Yet somehow it took five more months to Mobilize enough troops to take out Spanish Fort and Fort Blakeley.
And Mobile didn’t finally fall until mid-April 1865. My own bias is that Mobile’s significance dropped a magnitude once access to the Gulf was cut off by the WGBS.
Is there an implied criticism of General Banks in this song in that Banks was substantially better at throwing balls than fighting battles?
If so, I didn’t catch it.
