Dead Confederates, A Civil War Era Blog

Bleg

Posted in Uncategorized by Andy Hall on July 8, 2011

I’m working on something and I need a list of several Confederate regiments — mostly infantry, but maybe a handful of cavalry and artillery, across the war geographically and chronologically, to get a general sampling of the CS Army. Unfortunately, there seems to be no “Random Confederate Regiment Generator” out there. (Is there an iPhone app for that?)

Please use the full, formal name and drop ’em in the comments.

Thanks.

Update: Closing comments for now, as I think I have enough units to work with. Thanks for the suggestions.

10th South Carolina, one of the only SC regiments serving in the Western Theater, had a company, Georgetown Rifle Guards that was formed in 1859.

39th Georgia Infantry, Highest Desertion Rate for a GA unit, captured at Vicksburg and later served in the Atlanta Campaign

26th Tennessee Infantry, a East Tennessee Confederate Regiment, Captured at Fort Donelson.

1st Tennessee, Not what Sam Watkins made you think, a rich boy regiment mostly.

    28th Alabama Infantry

    10th Mississippi Infantry
